In my mind, Inventor and Solidworks are very similar in terms of how difficult they are to use. Which is a double-edged sword, as they can be less tedious to use and less frustrating perhaps as you're coming to terms with modelling as a beginner, but at the same time they don't give you the degree of control you would have in Catia or Creo/ProE.

Solidworks doesnt include the Catia translator in the basic packages. What we've had to do is use Autodesk Fusion 360 & import it there & then export it out as a format that Solidworks can then open. If it's just a one time only download & test their trial version to translate the Catia files.
